Introduction
LO 9215′Report back Week 1's diagnostic results honestly, then set this week's aim: apply everything under real conditions.
Naming the weak section out loud (as a class trend, not individuals) motivates Step 2 far better than skipping straight to new content.
Targeted Remedial
LO 90730′Use Week 1's diagnostic tally to decide which ONE or TWO sections need this slot — don't re-run everything, that defeats the point of diagnosing first.
Vocabulary/Grammar weak → re-run a fresh item set in that format, on the board, together.
A text section weak (Prose/Poetry/Supplementary) → re-show that text's mind-map poster, re-ask its LOT questions orally, in pairs.
Memoriter shaky → individual 30-second recitation checks while the rest of the class self-tests in pairs.
If the diagnostic showed no single weak section, use this slot for extra memoriter recitation checks instead — it's the easiest mark to lose to nerves.
Writing Formats Workshop
LO 91940′22 of the paper's 100 marks are writing-format marks, untouched in Week 1. A model plus one quick practice per format — format and structure matter more here than content.
Practice: Green Leaf Bakery – Fresh Bread – Cakes – Cookies – 10% off this week – MG Road, Trichy.
Practice: draft a poster on “Save Water.”
Practice: complaint to the Municipal Officer about a broken street light.
Practice: describe any classroom object-based picture in 5 sentences.
Practice: summarise any short paragraph from a newspaper or textbook in 3 lines.
Format compliance (all required parts present) is graded before content quality — drill the skeleton first.
Unseen Comprehension Strategy
LO 90725′8 marks come from a passage or poem never seen before — nothing to memorise, only a reading strategy to rehearse: read the questions first, then scan the passage for each answer's location.
Timed practice (5′): any short unseen paragraph or 8–10 line unseen poem from a newspaper, magazine, or the textbook's own unseen-practice section, with 4 straightforward Wh-questions.
Bring a fresh unseen passage — reusing one students have seen defeats the purpose.
Full Mock Paper
LO 907 · 918 · 9193 hrsOne full-length paper, same structure and time as the real exam: Part I (14) · Part II brief Prose/Poetry/Grammar/Writing (20) · Part III long Prose/Poetry/Supplementary/Writing (45) · Memoriter (5) · Supplementary hint-paragraph (8) · unseen comprehension (8). Sit it like exam day: silent, timed, notes closed, in the actual exam hall if possible.
This needs a dedicated 3-hour sitting, not a normal 45′ period — schedule it like a real exam, ideally in the last 3–4 days before the quarterly. Mock Paper A, its PDF, and the interactive Test Hub are all linked above — use whichever fits your class.
Answer Review
LO 90730′Go through the mock paper section by section, marks-first: which sections lost the most marks class-wide, right before the actual exam.
This is the last full-class teaching slot before the exam — prioritise ruthlessly.
Follow-up
LO 92110′ + homeThree exam-day tips, then one self-chosen home task matched to each student's own weakest section from Step 6.
Keep this calm and short — the mock paper already did the hard work.
